Adirondack Summer Adventure Print E-mail

Troop 65 recently visited Adirondack State Park in New York for their annual summer adventure trip.  In addition to the backcountry adventure, scouts visited the Adirondack Museum, The Wild Center, and several of the Olympic venues from the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.  For their backcountry adventure, the troop separated into three crews.

 

Scouts Brian Donaldson, David Donaldson, Zack Kaehler, Ross Levelle, Ben Taylor, and Ethan Wasson enjoyed backpacking and exploring the lakes in the West Canada Lake Wilderness, a day of whitewater rafting on the Hudson River, and a day hike to Algonquin Peak in the High Peaks Wilderness.  Adult leaders with them were Kurt Donaldson and John Taylor.

Scouts Erik Abrahams, Anthony Beres, Chris Brewer, Bradley Gerber, Bryce Jecklin, Zack Karolchik, and Billy Myers enjoyed canoeing along Long Lake and Raquette River, a day on the Saranac Lakes, and backpacking in the High Peaks Wilderness experiencing the sights of Mount Marcy and Avalanche Pass.  Adult leaders with them were Roger Abrahams, Bill Brewer, and Dave Jecklin.

Scouts John Craw and Mervie Davis enjoyed a week of backpacking in the High Peaks Wilderness experiencing the sights of Indian Pass, Wallface Mountain, Avalanche Pass, Mount Colden, Mount Marcy, and Johns Brook Lodge. Adult leaders with them were Hank Burton, Bob Burton, Ian Frist, Evan Moore, Thomas Moore, and Evan Williams.

Other adult leaders helping with the trip were Grace Ayscue, Merv Davis, Robin Davis, Randy Levelle, Bob Wasson, and Cindy Wasson.
